Jail him, he’s remarrying too soon after our divorce

The traditional adage that “hell is colder than the rage of a jealous woman” was taught to a young guy from Lusaka this week after his ex-wife appealed with the court to jail him.

After learning that Thomas Chitika, 34, had already dried his tears and had found another woman whom he was set to marry just 60 days after their divorce, the ex-wife brought him with his identity card from the Zambia Revenue Authority around his neck to the Lusaka Boma Court.

On top of that, Chitika was allegedly blocking his recently divorced ex-wife from seeing their son as he appeared to be getting ready to set up the youngster with the new mother he had found for him.

Christine sought the court to imprison the mother of her children for contempt of court because he was disobeying the terms of their divorce, which stated that she would have access to the son he was keeping and that he would also have access to the daughter she was keeping.

On his part, Chitika testified before the court that his ex-foul wife’s language—which he said she used despite his twice sending her on dates with midwives—was to blame for the entire mess. He continued by saying that his ex-wife followed him around and made ridiculous requests.

The court reconciled the ex-couple and recommended them to handle situations involving their children in a mature manner rather than attempting to put one other in jail, noting that this was simply a case of “some broken hearts never mend,” as Don Williams put it.
