Samuel Wamathai, Nyeri County Deputy Governor; has been sworn in as the new Nyeri governor for the remainder of the term before the August 8 election following the death of Governor Nderitu Gachagua in a london Hospital.
Wamathai’s swearing in ceremony at the county headquarters in Nyeri town was well-attended by leaders and residents of the Mount Kenya region county, who in a common voice hailed his leadership qualities saying he was a strong pillar in the late Gachagua’s administration.
Samuel Wamathai took the oath of office in a ceremony presided over by the Judiciary this morning. He will therefore step in the shoes of the late Governor Nderitu Gachagua and take full responsibility of the new office where according to the Constitutions he is at liberty to choose a new cabinet for the remainder of the term.
The new Governor pledged to do everything in his capacity to consolidate and continue with the work set in motion by the late Governor Nderitu Gachagua during this period of time before the general election.
