Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee is once again Kenya’s national team head coach.

Mulee signed a three-year deal to take over from Francis Kimanzi who stepped down earlier this week.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) said Mulee, who was unveiled on Wednesday, will name his technical bench in due course.

Mulee famously guided the Harambee Stars to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations where they finished in third place in Group B behind Mali and Senegal.

Mulee thanked the FKF for giving him the opportunity to lead the national side once more while acknowledging he had a “very big task ahead”.

“It is an honour to be Harambee Stars coach for the second time and the task ahead now is to qualify for the 2021 AFCON,” he said.

Mulee is the fifth coach to be appointed to the role since Mwendwa became FKF president four years ago.

Kenya is scheduled to play a doubleheader against Comoros in the next round of AFCON qualifiers on November 11 and 15.

Mulee said the team’s 2-1 win against 2013 African champions Zambia in a friendly match earlier this month served as a good build-up to the game.

“I have been following the Harambee Stars since I left. In recent times I followed the game against Zambia and I see a lot of quality in the team.”
