AU committee lauds Sisi’s suggestion on anti-terror unit

CAIRO- 6 November 2020: Participants in the 13th session of the African Union’s Specialized Technical Committee on Defense, Safety and Security (STCDSS) welcomed on Thursday President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s suggestion to set up a special unit for combatting terrorism.

The participants, during a video-conference meeting that was held from November 2-5, lauded the endorsement of Cairo Roadmap for Developing Peacekeeping Operations.

Egypt took part in the meeting with a delegation comprising representatives of defense, foreign and interior ministries.

The spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces said many decisions were taken in connection with African peace and security.

Egypt’s participation comes as part of efforts to boost security and stability in Africa.
