The American Music Business, AMB is receiving heavy flack from Nigerians on social media following its assertion that Canadian-American rapper, Aubrey Graham, better known as Drake gave international popularity and recognition to Nigerian superstar singer, Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid.
The business academy took to Twitter to make this statement which prompted a series of dragging from Nigerian music lovers who aren’t particularly fans of Wizkid.
Tweeting via its handle @BenjaminEnfield, AMB wrote; “Drake made wizkid popular outside of Africa.”

Checkout the reactions from Nigerians below:
@chukwudi_agbom said; I am not his fan but this is ridiculous. As ridiculous as saying beyonce brought BURNA to limelight by putting him in his album. As a matter of fact many Nigerian Artists like 2face, dbanj, psqaure, BURNA, wizkid, Davido have been popular outside africa for a long time now

@lhurd_rhymez; Wizkid gave Drake his longest lasting billboard number one record Drake should wake up every day and sing praise and Worship to Wizkid…
@tweetwithdee_; This one is just chasing clout. I’m sure this account is hacked. Wizkid that was already headlining festivals before one dance. Ojuelegba was huge asf that’s why Drake jumped on it. Drake even said wiz changed the way he saw music. This one na clout chaser.

@starboyyaki1; Say “more popular” cos Wizkid has been headlining shows across europe(including uk) before one dance
@IheanyiCNN; man what’s your problem with Nigerian arts today take your clout chasing somewhere else please
@livingblackboy; Y’all are capping shit and pls get your fact right , we won’t accept this from you …… WIZKID Fc
@oluobededom; You can say “more popular” or “popular in the US), it woulda been more appropriate, don’t say “outside Africa” . I was in Paris (before wizkid collaborated with Drake) and wizkid was playing in a mall and people were vibing to it, same as in the UK.
@dajabulani; Is this suppose to be an argument because I don’t get it. Drake is popular and one of US biggest artist.
If he made Wizkid popular out of Africa, is not justified?
In US, some people don’t even know Wale, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Tiga and many black artists.
@slimTeeIX; Drake didn’t make Wizkid popular “outside Africa”.
Wizkid has been extremely popular in the UK since almost 10 years now… Is UK in Africa?
Maybe Drake made him more popular in the US. It’s arguable.
@hunberry22; Wizkid gave Drake the biggest hit of his career , go figure !!
