Skyy News can confirm that a Presiding Officer of the Electoral Commission, who has been assigned to the Budo City Polling Station of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency has been ‘busted’ for compelling polling agents of the various political parties sign in advance, the pink sheets [results sheet] for the center. According to our reporter Nana Yaw Kumi, party executives are heavily demanding the removal or replacement of the indicted officer.
The Presiding Officer whose name has been given as Benson Joe Brew-Tawiah told polling agents to sign the pink sheets in the early hours of the polls, “with an excuse that it will be too late for them to sign them when the polls are closed”, our reporter stressed.

According to sources, it took the polling agent for the Independent candidate; Joy Joycelyn Andoh, who enquired about this arrangement that got executives alarmed about the breach. The center nearly got violent when party executives stormed the center after they had learned about this. They were suspicious the move was an attempt to rig the polls.

But the District Director for the EC, Mr. Ekwo Essien intervened. He explained that the demands of the parties cannot be met given that they do not have the numbers in terms of personnel to replace that Presiding Officer.

He however assured that the defective pink sheet will be replaced and due process followed.

“It was the independent candidate that called his executives that they have been asked to sign.. they thought it was a normal process.

“The EC say they don’t have the men to replace him. But the only thing they can do is to change the pink sheet,” Nana Yaw Kumi clarified.

Calm has been restored and the voting is going on uninterrupted.
