Nigerians have taken to social media to lament after the Federal Government increased the electricity tariff payable by power consumers across the country, for the second time in 3 months.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission announced on Tuesday January 5, it had approved the price hike for all (low and high energy) consumer classes, effective immediately.

Nigerians are currently lamenting on social media, saying the hike comes just two months after the government increased the electricity price in November 2020, coupled with the covid-19 disease in the country, insecurity situation in the country and high poverty rate in the country.
