Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has expressed his displeasure with one of the party’s presidential candidates, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over his outburst in Abeokuta on Thursday, June 2.
On Saturday, June 4th, Adamu told journalists at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja that Tinubu might be sanctioned.
“We may sanction him (Tinubu) for his anti-President remarks.”
He (Tinubu) even went so far as to describe how Gen. Muhammadu Buhari approached him, even crying and imploring him to endorse and support him for the presidency. He claimed Buhari paid him a visit.
Even though he is the president, he is a citizen of the world. It’s incredible that a fellow APC member would make such a remark about the president in those circumstances. This is something we don’t agree with. It has been demonstrated that he has showed little regard for the office of Mr. President.
As a result, we want to make it clear that we are saddened by what we witnessed in the video and in the reportàge, and we strongly condemn it.
We sincerely hope that he never says anything like that again, especially if he is of the APC extraction.
Yes, we saw some evidence of a retraction yesterday, but it was insufficient. It isn’t genuine. It isn’t comprehensive enough. It doesn’t take away the effect that event has made on us.” According to Adamu,
Tinubu said he deserves to lead the race after helping President Buhari win the 2015 election while campaigning in Abeokuta. Many people thought his remarks were insulting to the President.
Tinubu, on the other hand, stated in a statement released on Friday, June 3 that he held President Buhari in high regard. He said that his remarks were taken out of context and were not meant to be disrespectful to the President.
Reactions implying he was rude, according to the former Lagos State Governor, were sensational and wrong.
