Governors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have followed the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, to his home in order to find a long-term solution to the confusion surrounding the party’s special convention, where the party’s presidential candidate for 2023 is expected to emerge.
Senator Adamu was said to have gone into hiding after proclaiming Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus presidential candidate unilaterally on Monday.
According to reports, a crisis has erupted in the APC leadership after the party’s chairman claimed Buhari had anointed Lawan to win the ticket, a claim later refuted by the president.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and the Northern Governors elected on the APC platform both refuted the announcement.
Despite activity ramping up ahead of the APC’s National Convention, Abdullahi Adamu’s whereabouts have remained mostly unknown, according to sources.
However, a video shared on Twitter on Tuesday morning by Jubril Gawat, a noted Asiwaju Bola Tinubu supporter and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, indicated that the APC Governors followed Adamu to his home.
