Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) National Leader and the party’s presidential flag-bearer in 2023, has confirmed that his running mate will be a Christian.
According to Advertafrica.net, there have been rumors that the ruling party is planning to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election.
The rumored plan drew a flood of responses from party stakeholders, religious groups, leaders, and concerned people, many of whom argued passionately about why they supported or opposed the rumored candidacy.
Tinubu, on the other hand, has refuted reports that he will run on a Muslim-Muslim ticket, insisting that he will choose a Northern Christian as his running partner.
The clarification came during a press conference held by the APC governorship campaign in Ekiti State on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, before of the state’s governorship election.
Tinubu dismissed the reports, calling the people who made them “undemocratic elements.” The bearers of the false news, according to the presidential candidate, are simply terrified by his impending win in the upcoming presidential election.
“The VP post belongs to the Northeastern area, notably the Christians,” Tinubu told the Daily Post in Ekiti State, “but negotiations are still ongoing as to who will be picked.”
Tinubu assured Nigerians that no organisation, institution, or individual can force him to pick a running mate.
