Ned Nwoko, a Delta-born politician, has expressed his views on former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi’s participation in the upcoming governorship race under the Labour Party’s platform.
Peter Obi is not like other governors he has met in the past, according to the politician, who is married to actress Regina Daniels.
He is frugal and a big-time capitalist. In an interview with BBC Igbo, Nwoko also indicated that he would like Peter Obi to return to the Peoples Democratic Party as Minister of Economy because he would do well in that position and would help the economy recover.
The Delta-born politician went on to say that while Peter Obi is popular and has a following, he lacks the structure to perform effectively.
a majority in either the house of representatives or the senate, as well as state legislatures and government.
He also stated that achieving all of these goals could take at least eight years. Nwoko went on to say that there are numerous factors working against Peter Obi becoming President of Nigeria, and that “it would never happen.”
Nwoko also said that Igbos are unprepared for the presidency, claiming that this was demonstrated during the primaries. He also pondered why delegates never voted for Igbo candidates, preferring instead to vote for people from other parts of the country.
He claims that Igbos are primarily self-centered and unconcerned about others. Nwoko went on to say that he doesn’t believe in zoning but does believe in merit.
