The latest trailer for Marvel’s follow-up to the 2018 box office sensation “Black Panther,” “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever,” has been published.

Who will play the Black Panther has been the subject of numerous rumors. In the first movie, the titular character was portrayed by American actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away from colon cancer in 2020.

He was the first black actor to play the lead role in a movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the movie’s enormous success, plans for a sequel were rapidly made.

However, following the actor’s passing, Marvel announced that it will not replace his part as T’Challa, the king of Wakanda, in his memory.

‘Who’s the next Black Panther? I can’t tell you. But, I think what we do see is they’re all heroes because they all have to overcome a huge feat, which is the loss of someone incredibly important and central in their lives,’ says actor Winston Duke who plays the role of Lord M’Baku in both films.

‘I think the movie really deals with the fact that we can all be heroes. And in a strange way, art really reflected life with this. The characters in this movie aren’t the only ones that have suffered great loss in the last several years. So, we’re all coming from this macro place of survival,’ he Duke.

The Wakandan people were seen weeping for their departed ruler in the first trailer, which also included Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, cradling the Black Panther helmet. When we see someone in a Black Panther costume releasing their claws in the final minute, some viewers theorized that it might be Shuri.

After a number of delays, the film’s production was finished in March. Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the sequel, is one of many original actresses that returned. Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett are also making a comeback.

Honoring Chadwick Boseman

Boseman’s passing was a big loss, and the sequel will pay honor to the actor, according to Marvel Studios, which expressed excitement to reintroduce the world of Wakanda to the general public.

‘He was one of those people whose presence was quiet but expansive. So, you don’t notice how large of a presence he filled until he’s not there. And that’s something that’s just all throughout this process. So, we’re still all kind of recovering and growing from it, but it’s something special,’ says Duke.

‘Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever’ will be released in the United States on 11 November.
