Shehu Sani, a former politician in Nigeria, has pleaded with his countrymen to help the Black Stars succeed at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars, the Super Eagles’ enduring opponents, prevented them from representing the African continent.
After both teams drew scorelessly in Kumasi and then drew 1-1 in Abuja in the World Cup playoffs, Ghana eliminated Nigeria on the basis of away goals in March.
Shehu Sani urged Nigerians to support the Black Stars at the World Cup in a post seen by Footballghana.com.
“Nigerians should support Ghana to win. I know it’s difficult to do so. They didn’t deny us the chance of going to Qatar. They simply assembled their best players and played better. I don’t know if the ones who played for us were our best. #FIFAWorldCup,” he tweeted.
The Black Stars, who didn’t participate in the world championship in Russia 2018, were placed in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
Ghana’s season will begin with a matchup against the former European champions Portugal, followed by matches against South Korea and Uruguay.
