Following Ghana’s elimination from the World Cup group stage, Otto Addo has resigned as their coach.
In February, the 47-year-old former Ghanaian international took over as manager after Milovan Rajevac was fired. His contract was extended till the end of December.
He also serves as Borussia Dortmund’s talent coach in Germany.
“I always said if we qualified for the World Cup I’d resign afterwards, even if we were world champions,” he said.
“My family see our future in Germany.”
Between losses to Portugal and Uruguay, Ghana defeated South Korea in Addo’s final game to finish last in Group H.
“Football is beautiful, sometimes it is ugly. It is ugly for us today. We have to learn and I’m very sure we will learn from this in the future,” he said.
Addo, whose parents are from Ghana, was born in Hamburg and has spent the most of his playing and coaching career there.
