Now that Nigerian musician Wizkid has demonstrated that he cannot fill the Accra Sports Stadium, artist manager Bullgod has pleaded with critics to be more forgiving of Ghanaian performers.
He declared that it is time to stop criticising Ghanaian performers for being unable to plan sold-out overseas concerts at prestigious venues like the 02 Arena, Madison Square, and others.
This, in his opinion, is the result of Afrobeats singer Wizkid’s inability to draw enough people to fill the Accra Sports Stadium, which holds 40,000 people, despite dominating all of these venues, especially the 02 Arena, which has a seating capacity of 20,000.
He made these remarks in response to rumours that Wizkid did not appear on stage at the Accra Sports Stadium concert, where he was scheduled to perform as the main attraction.
Following the development, social media erupted with complaints from irate spectators who had waited for Wizkid’s performance for 12 hours.
Bullgod, though, offered the following insight into the hot button issue during a talk on Hitz FM:
“Now that Wizkid has proven successfully that he cannot fill the stadium, nobody should worry our artistes about filling 02 Arena. He also wasn’t able to fill here. Make dem no come worry anybody. We dey bg. Forget the 02 Arena, Madison Square, and let them come and try the Accra Sports Stadium. Then we can have a conversation.”
However, he praised Rev. Mensah Otabil, the founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), for being the only one to date to be able to fill the Accra Sports Stadium with his customary 31-watch night session known as “Crossover.”
“Otabil is still on our chart. The only person to do it.”
