Catherine Afeku ‘attacks’ Mahama for neglecting and collapsing Creative Arts Industry

The Minister of Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Catherine AbelemaAfeku has descended heavily on the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration indicating it completely neglecting the Industry leading to its near collapse.

Movie actors, producers and directors including musicians have over the years complained about the collapsing of Creative Arts Industry but say most have governments have failed to give them the needed attention

According to the Minister, the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the true supporter of the Creative Arts Industry promising the industry will gradually take its shape under leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“We have the opportunity to change the narrative of Ghana through Arts, culture and film but successive governments have come and gone but not even one brick had been added to theaters to promote Arts and Culture. The last time we saw works in the Apatakesie Theatre Project at Kumasi Culture Centre is during former president J.A Kufuor tenure. NPP government will revive Creative Arts Industry” the Minister assured.

The Minister added that NPP government will fulfill it promises of building theaters across the country admitting the lack of theaters gradually collapsing Creative Arts Industry especially the Movie Industry.

She officially introduced the contractors going to work on the refurbishment of the Apatakesie Theatre Project at the Kumasi Centre for National Culture (CNC).

Representative of Bantamahene Baffour Amankwatia, actors guild president Bill Asamoah and Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) executives, actors and actresses including directors and producers were in attendance.
