Sophia Akuffo, the president’s first choice to serve as Ghana’s Chief Justice, stated her displeasure with the president for trying to address his financial issues by hanging the weak.
According to her, it is evil of the government to sacrifice the earnings of those who have dedicated their entire lives to serving the nation in order to address its own economic issues.
She stated the Akufo-Addo government should not have ever considered touching pension funds while speaking in front of the Ministry of Finance in Accra, where some pensioners have been picketing since Monday, February 6, 2023.
“I find this wicked; I find it disrespectful; I find it unlawful; I find it totally wrong. Period. Because you don’t solve your problems by sacrificing your aged. That’s the last thing you should do especially when we don’t have any services that are specially geared at the comfort and the relief of the aged,” she said.
