Controversial Afia Schwarzenegger, a Ghanaian comedian, urged her countrymen to consider themselves fortunate to have Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as their leader.
Afia gave reasons why Ghanaians should consider themselves fortunate and mentioned that she was now in Germany, where rail and bus workers were protesting the government for better working conditions.
As an allusion to Nigeria, Afia claimed that the populace would “kill” to have a leader like Akufo-Addo, noting that they had already rejected Mr. Ahmed Bola Tinubu as their president-elect.
Afia Schwarzenegger reportedly posted a message on Instagram on Independence Day imploring Ghanaians to be understanding of Akufo-Addo.
“Nowhere cool. Come to Germany and see. The bus and train drivers are on demonstration. Be happy that you are a Ghanaian and be grateful that Nana Addo is your president, because Nigerians wished they had a handsome, young-looking president like ours. Also, our president speaks good English and has a nice speaking accent. Be grateful that you have a president like Nana Akufo-Addo who will not lick the microphone when he speaks. And we are breaking the eight with Bawumia.”
In a recent election, Tinubu won with 8.8 million votes, defeating surprise leader Peter Obi and erstwhile associate turned enemy Atiku Abubakar, who received 6.9 million and 6.1 million votes, respectively.
Since then, Afia Schwarzenegger has made fun of Nigerians for choosing a president she described as “an elderly frail” man.
On social media, the comedian and Kwame A Plus have uploaded past posts in which they were seen making fun of Nigerians for their new leadership pick.
