From March 25 to April 2, US Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Accra, Ghana; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and Lusaka, Zambia.

Douglas Emhoff, her husband, will go with her.

The trip will build on the recently concluded U.S.-Africa Leaders Conference, which President Biden hosted in Washington, D.C., in December 2022.

The trip will enhance our joint efforts on security and economic growth and improve American connections across Africa.

Mrs. Harris will advance initiatives to increase access to the digital economy, support climate adaptation and resilience, and strengthen business ties and investment throughout the trip in collaboration with African governments and the private sector, including through innovation, entrepreneurship, and the economic empowerment of women.

Presidents Samia Hassan of Tanzania, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, and President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana will all meet with the Vice President.

In addition to other topics, they will talk about regional and global priorities, such as our shared commitment to democracy, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, food security, and the results of Russia’s unwarranted conflict in Ukraine.

The vice president will foster interpersonal relationships and interact with members of civil society, such as young leaders, businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and persons from the African Diaspora.
