Abubakar Ahmed, better known by his stage name Blakk Rasta, is a well-known Ghanaian Reggae musician and broadcaster who has expressed his unhappiness over the musicians’ repeated refusals of his requests for participation.
Blakk Rasta challenged musicians to improve their mindsets and stop underestimating their colleagues in a report.
“I believe much of it stems from selfishness. We lack trust in one another. It’s disheartening to see everyone focused on their own interests without genuinely helping each other,” he shared with King Lagazee.
Blakk Rasta also shared his amazement at the answers he got from artists when he approached them about working together.
“Recently, I approached a couple of artistes to collaborate with me, and their reactions were quite unexpected,” he lamented.
He claims that each time he submits a song to an artist for cooperation, he gets no response.
“They would say, ‘Oh, legend, send me the song. It’s a vibe; the song is a real vibe.’ But then, I never hear from them again,” Blakk Rasta revealed.
Although he noted that he has had the chance to showcase well-known musicians in the past, cooperation has never been his strong suit.
He blamed the lack of cooperation on people thinking too highly of themselves; some thought that being on his records would affect the game.
“When ego prevails, unity becomes elusive. We must shed our egos if we want to make progress,” he emphasized.
