Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, is reserving “the right to take legal action” against his own team after the latter uploaded an odd video to TikTok that seemed to make fun of the player.
The strange film was released after Osimhen assisted the Italian squad in winning its first league title in thirty years.
Osimhen helped Napoli immensely with 31 goals in all competitions, but he was the subject of an odd, since-deleted video that was posted to the Serie A team’s official TikTok account.
On Tuesday night, the event was addressed in a statement by Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda.
He wrote on Twitter: “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.
“A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.”
Calenda added: “We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor”.
An weird, accelerated voiceover was added to a clip of the striker’s missed penalty from their game against Bologna on Sunday in the promotional film.
After there seemed to be friction between Osimhen and Napoli manager Rudi Garcia during the game, a bizarre social media film emerged.
With four minutes left in the scoreless draw, the 24-year-old Nigerian attacker was spotted berating Garcia as he was removed from the game.
The unusual social media argument started when Osimhen, who this summer piqued Manchester United’s interest, chose not to extend his contract with the Italian squad.
The existing contract with Osimhen is valid through the summer of 2025.
