Captain Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso announced planned changes to the constitution to make it more representative of the people on state TV on Friday, almost a year after assuming power in a coup and promising a return to presidential elections by July 2024.
‘It’s not a priority, clearly, security is the priority”, stated Captain Traore.
Authorities in Burkina Faso reported on Thursday that four officers had been jailed the day after the military government declared that a coup attempt had been stopped.
The effort had been thwarted the day before, according to information released by the junta late on Wednesday.
The military administration has sworn to expose this conspiracy in every way.
