Nigeria is the only African nation in the top 10 with the greatest proportion of students studying in the US.
The Institute of International Education (IIE) in Washington released the new Open Doors Report on Monday, and the data from it showed.
The research claims that despite the foreign exchange crisis, there was a 22.2% increase in the number of Nigerian students studying in the US in only a single year.
Nigerian enrolment rose to 17,640 in the 2022–2023 academic year from 14,438 the year before, according to the data.
It stated that 1.06 million overseas students were admitted to the US in the academic year, a 12% rise over the year before.
