Egypt has expressed its approval of the Security Council’s endorsement of a Gaza ceasefire resolution, marking the first such agreement since the crisis began, despite its perceived imbalance and limited timeframe.
In a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Monday, Egypt emphasized the immediate implementation of the ceasefire to allow for comprehensive addressing of all aspects of the crisis.
The United Nations Security Council successfully adopted a resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza on Monday, following nearly 170 days of conflict. The resolution, backed by 10 elected UN member states, received a total of 14 votes in favor, with the United States abstaining.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry’s report on Sunday, the casualties of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip had reached 32,070 fatalities and 74,298 injuries since October 7. The ministry noted that many Palestinians remained trapped under debris amidst ongoing Israeli bombardment of the region.
The Palestinian health statement further highlighted that the Israeli occupation carried out 9 massacres against Gaza Strip families in the past 24 hours, resulting in the deaths of 82 individuals and 110 injuries, as reported by Al-Qahera News TV Channel.
