Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has claimed that his market value exceeds €100 million, highlighting his distinctive standing in the football arena.
Currently on a season-long loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen has been in the spotlight for his exceptional performances, following a summer filled with transfer speculation linking him to some of Europe’s elite clubs, such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Liverpool.
His potential transfer was complicated by a hefty €130 million release clause, which hindered moves to Chelsea and PSG as the summer transfer window came to a close. With negotiations at a standstill, a loan to Turkey became a feasible option for the 25-year-old player.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Chelsea is contemplating a £40 million bid for Osimhen in January. However, Napoli officials have confirmed that no discussions are currently underway, despite ongoing rumors. Fans have expressed skepticism regarding the proposed transfer fee, questioning whether it is fitting for the reigning African Player of the Year.
In response to the shifting dynamics in the transfer market, Osimhen addressed his valuation, stating, “I am worth more than €100 million. There are very few players like me in the world who have achieved similar results and success.”
He elaborated, “My worth is tied to my skills, the impact I have on the pitch, and my overall quality. I believe I deserve a high valuation. Opinions vary—some say €15 million, while others estimate between €100 and €150 million. Everyone has their own perspective.”
Since joining Galatasaray, Osimhen has quickly made his mark, scoring two goals and providing four assists in just four matches, including a thrilling 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa last weekend.
Osimhen initially transferred to Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020 for a then-club record fee of €70 million, plus an additional €10 million in bonuses. During his two seasons with Napoli, he played a crucial role in securing the club’s first Scudetto title in over 30 years during the 2022/23 season, finishing as Serie A’s top scorer with 26 goals.
His rising popularity can be attributed to his exciting performances for Galatasaray, especially his recent assists. Following his record-setting loan move, Osimhen’s social media following surged dramatically, gaining 848,000 new Instagram followers within two weeks and establishing him as Nigeria’s most-followed football personality.
