President Nana Akufo-Addo has raised a crucial question for former President John Dramani Mahama concerning the future of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
Speaking during a recent visit to the Northern Region, President Akufo-Addo accused Mahama of making conflicting statements about the initiative, which provides free senior high school education to Ghanaian students.
He stressed the importance of Mahama clarifying his position on the Free SHS policy, given its significant role in the country’s educational system. Akufo-Addo expressed concern that Mahama’s inconsistent remarks could mislead voters about his true intentions regarding the program, especially with the 2024 elections approaching.
The president further asserted that any candidate unable to offer a clear stance on the future of Free SHS should not be considered fit for the presidency.
“Mr Mahama, which is which? What should the Ghanaian people take from you as your position on the Free SHS policy? Is it safe with you and are you going to continue with it or are you going to cancel it? Nobody should be allowed to be president if he can’t answer this question straightforwardly,” he stated.
