Akufo-Addo appoints new IGP; sacks Asante Apeatu

The president of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has today 22nd July 2019 relieved the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of his duties.

In a press statement signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, the president has asked David Asante Apeatu to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

 The statement in possession of Browngh.com cited that the president has now appointed the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr James Oppong-Boanuh to act.

President Akufo acknowledged Asante Apeatu’s effort for his many years of service to Ghana.

Under the leadership of Asante Apeatu, there were several attacks on individuals regarding Kidnapping, bye-elections brouhaha, police brutality on Ghanaians and so on.
