The Black Stars have only played a game at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt but a lawmaker in Ghana’s Parliament is already predicting an early-exit from the competition for the team.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Mr Sam George in a series of social media posts on Tuesday as the team played Benin at the Ismailia Stadium took a swipe at the “Year of Return” slogan, stating that they would not return to Ghana with even a pack of noodles.

After the Stars drew 2-2 with the Squirrels of Benin in their Group F opening clash Mr George predicted future struggles against giants like Nigeria, Tunisia and Egypt as the competition progresses.

He posted: “You k3nt score Benin. Benin Republic oh. Nigeria or Tunisia or Egypt no come yet oh. Y3n ko ti a, year of return. You would not return with even indomie.

He urged the handlers to disband the team and rebuild it with players aged under 21 years. “Disband the Black Stars and build a new team from the U-21 level. A mansion built on a weak foundation would fail. Simplicita?,” he posted.

The Stars next face defending champions Cameroon who were 2-0 victors over Guinea-Bissau in the other Group F clash on June 29 and the opposition MP is questioning the sanity of persons who think the Stars can win that game.

He posted: “You could not score the Squirrels ? of Benin and you have hope to score the Indomitable Lions ? of Cameroon? Are you okay?”.

The Black Stars will play Guinea-Bissau in their final group match on July 2 at the Suez Stadium in Suez.

Two teams will qualify automatically from each of the six AFCON groups. They will be joined by the four of the best third-placed teams in the Round of 16.
