The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo-Dankwa Akuffo Addo imposed a lockdown in some parts of the country on Sunday,30 March 2020 as a measure to curb further spread of the novel coronavirus.

Military men were dispatched to the restricted areas to ensure that the lockdown rule is being followed by residents.

In some videos which trended on the internet yesterday has some military men brutalizing some residents who refused to adhere to the lockdown rule.

In one of the videos, a man was seen being punished by some army men to pinch his ear and squat several times for taking a video of them.

The unidentified military man was heard asking the poor man to move onto the street for his girlfriend to see him doing frog jumps. He said;

“Go to the road, your girlfriend will see you. You were videoing me so that your girlfriend will say I am wicked”.

According to Lt.Col Appah who was questioned on the video by Citi Fm said that it wasn’t right and the soldier will be dealt with severely when found. The soldier who was in the video looked hard to identify but if found, he would be sanctioned for the act.

“The soldier was wearing a hood and it is difficult to identify him in the video. Incidentally, our area is a reserved place where we have our headquarters. We have about 40 to 50 soldiers there. So, it is difficult to identify which soldier did that. But I’m still looking for him to find out why he did that and give appropriate sanctions,” the Colonel said.
