The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has announced that any Ghanaian national who will aid a foreigner to enter into the country will be dealt with.
In his eighth address to the nation on Sunday, April 24, 2020, he said, the news of Ghanaians aiding some West African nationals entry into the country despite the closure of the borders is worrying. He described these acts as unpatriotic and Ghanaians should put a stop to it.
According to the president, it is unpatriotic for a Ghanaian national to assist a foreigner especially from West African countries illegal entry into Ghana knowing that Ghana is battling to fight the spread of coronavirus which has already affected 1,550 persons with 155 recoveries and 11 deaths.
“We can not continue to allow a few persons, who are motivated by their own selfish, money- making interest, to endanger the lives of the rest of the population. Not only with persons who enter our country illegally be strictly dealt with, but so will Ghanaians who facilitate their entry”, he added.
