Ghana’s Education Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has replied the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other CSO’s who are calling for the closure of schools due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.

According to NAPO, schools cannot be closed for it will cause another problem. Government would have to find any means to pay the teachers which will be impossible.

Dr Prempeh who was released from quarantine yesterday added that teachers should do well and adhere to the Covid-19 protocols to ensure that teaching and learning go on effectively.

“The government is paying salaries and cannot make teachers to stay home and pay them so there is the need for them to work for the monies being paid to them by the government of Ghana,” he said.
