Egypt reports 911 COVID-19 cases, 42 deaths

CAIRO – 24 December 2020: A total of 911new coronavirus cases were detected in the last 24 hours, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 127,972 in Egypt, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.

The statement added that 42 patients died from the virus in the same period, raising the death toll to 7,209.

As many as 398 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 107,961 so far, the statement said.

The Egyptian Cabinet issued a statement on Wednesday, canceling the Christmas celebrations amid the current pandemic, particularly after the coronavirus strain has been mutated.

The Egyptian ministries and governmental authorities have started applying new measures to curb the spread of coronavirus, including reducing the attendance of employees and activating the rotation system.

Work circumstances are determined based on the number of employees and the nature of work, so that they ensure service is properly provided to citizens and work is continued.
