Cameroon has acquired state of the art military equipment destined for its contingent deployed within the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central Africa, MINUSCA.
The brand new equipment acquired in the side lines of a partnership with a French company were received by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo this Tuesday May 11 at the Douala 201 Air Base.
They include; nine armoured tanks, forty land cruisers, a good number of pick-up vehicles, five ambulances, 24 generators and 40 containers.
The reception of these equipment according to Minister Joseph Beti Assomo is a response from the Head of State to the need for new ones after the previous gadgets had almost all got obsolete.
The latter has appealed to the sense of responsibility of his collaborators as far as using the just acquired equipment is concerned mindful of the sacrifice made by the Government to purchase them at a time when the country is battling with a health/economic crisis.
He equally stated that the second set of the equipment which constitutes the remaining thirty percent is due to arrive the country in the weeks ahead.
The state of the art equipment are expectied to improve the working conditions of Cameroon’s MINUSCA forces to meet up with the United Nations standards.
They are more than a thousand military personnel and gendarmes deployed to the neighboring country for about five years now under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central Africa.
