The latest building fall in the Lagos Island neighborhood claimed the lives of at least four individuals on Sunday.
The victims were rescued from the rubble after a building in Nigeria’s commercial capital fell on Saturday.
Five people have been rescued, and rescuers are still looking for survivors.
Local media stated that the three-story structure collapsed owing to severe rainfall, citing the National Emergency Management Agency’s (NEMA) Zonal Southwest Coordinator.
According to the BBC, the building had been sealed off earlier because work had broken safety standards, but the developer had ignored the prohibition.
The NEMA has the support of other agencies involved in the rescue operations.
Two weeks ago, a similar incident occurred. A three-story residential structure in Nigeria’s largest metropolis, Ebute-Metta, fell on May 1st. Ten persons were killed in the collapse.
The safety of buildings is frequently questioned around the country. Since 2005, at least 152 structures in Lagos have collapsed, according to a South African university researcher.
