After allegedly head-butting a woman to death, a ram was sentenced to three years in prison.
Adhieu Chaping, 45, was allegedly attacked by a ram who repeatedly beat her in the chest before she died over the weekend.
After being condemned by traditional authorities in South Sudan, the ram will be forced to spend time in a military camp as part of its punishment.
It comes after the victim’s family was assured by the ram owner that they would receive five cows as compensation for her death.
“The ram attacked by hitting her ribs, and the old woman died instantly,” Sudan’s Eye Radio quoted Police Major Elijah Mabor as saying.

“This is what happened in Rumbek East, at a place named Akuel Yol,” says the narrator. Our job as cops is to keep everyone safe and separate fights. The ram was arrested and is currently being held at a Maleng Agok Payam Police Station.”
According to authorities, the two families have agreed that the owner will give the deceased cow’s family the cows based on a local understanding established by community elders.
Duony Manyang Dhal has since been identified as the ram’s owner.

The owner and the victim’s family are linked and neighbors, according to County Administrator Paul Adhong Majak.
The ram is expected to be given to Chaping’s family once it is released from prison, according to local legislation.
The families were had to sign a contract with cops to formalize the agreement, which was seen by community leaders.
