In the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has picked Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta, as his running mate.
On Thursday, he unveiled his running mate at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja. He stated that he made his choice after extensive consultations with party insiders.
He admitted that it was a difficult decision for him to make, given the high quality of individuals who had been recommended.
According to sources close to the former vice president, Atiku would prefer Okowa to Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike as his running mate.
The PDP’s national working committee (NWC) endorsed Wike as Atiku’s running partner on Wednesday.
The NWC members voted 13-3 to support the resolution. The stakeholders’ panel, which had previously nominated Wike for the VP ticket, has released its report.
However, Advert Africa has learned that Atiku is unhappy with Wike’s selection as his running mate.
