The remains of assassinated Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Emery Lumumba will be handed over to his family on Monday, more than 60 years after his death.
Lumumba and two other fighters were assassinated in Katanga on January 17, 1961. Years later, only one tooth was discovered in Belgium.
The Belgian legal system will hand over this relic to Lumumba’s family in a two-part ceremony at the Egmont Palace in Brussels on Monday.
The Congolese delegation will return to the DRC on Tuesday, when the relic will be transported to all significant locations in the life of the man who still represents Congolese freedom.
