Nigerians have reacted to Tonto Dikeh, a well-known Nollywood actor, becoming a contender for deputy governor of Rivers State.
Earlier, Advertafrica.net stated that Dikeh has been chosen to be Tonte Ibraye’s running mate for governor of Rivers State in the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 election.
The actress shared their campaign graphic and the news on her Instagram page on Friday morning with the hashtag “Rivers Rescue Mission 2023.”
Dikeh thanked the governorship candidate and said they looked forward to making significant investments in social protection, developing social value for youth, and boosting the representation of women in the political system.
She added that in order to be active participants in the effort to bring about sustainable development, they will promote small enterprises and reinforce traditional institutions.
In response to the news, numerous online users mocked the actress on Twitter for being chosen as the candidate’s running mate on Friday.
They criticized the ADC for selecting Dikeh as a deputy governorship candidate after a string of issues involving the actress, despite the fact that some people applauded her ascension.
