The Black Maidens have been disqualified from the upcoming two FIFA Under-17 Women’s African qualifying tournaments and fined $100,000 for age-discrimination by CAF.
Ghana was fined $100,000 and barred from participating in the following two FIFA Under-17 Women’s African qualifying tournaments, the Ghana FA said on Monday (4 July).
Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shahadu, members of the Black Maidens, were the targets of the protest since they are above seventeen years old and are accused of lying about their birthdates.
“The Ghana Football Association have received a disciplinary decision from CAF concerning a protest filed against two of our U17 players in a controversial World Cup Qualifiers second leg played against Morocco in Rabat.
“The decision bans Ghana from two subsequent U17 World Cup qualifiers with a fine of US$100,000,” the FA published on its website.
“GFA sent a written defence to CAF which was not considered. The GFA will study the full decision and respond with a written appeal accordingly,” the FA said.
The U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying saw the Moroccans lose 2-0 in Ghana during the first leg, prompting them to submit a protest.
But in the last qualifying match, Ghana fell to Morocco 4-2 on penalties.
