About 64 members of the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram who escaped from Abuja are reportedly hiding in Ghana, according to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

The Islamic extremist rebels released the convicts from the Nigerian prison at Kuje, which is close to Abuja, and they are currently on the run and presumed to be hiding in Ghana.

At the Kuje Maximum Security Prison in Abuja, approximately 900 convicts broke out during a jailbreak on Tuesday night.

According to sources, roughly 443 of the 879 escapees remain missing, while hundreds of others have either been apprehended or turned themselves in at police stations, according to Umar Abubakar, a spokesman for the Nigerian Correctional Service.

According to Abubakar, authorities will “trace all runaway detainees and return them to jail.”

Because of this, the Ghana Immigration Service advised the public in a statement to be vigilant and contact the security forces if they see any strangers in their local communities across the nation.

According to the reports intercepted by DGN Online, it is thought that the jihadist organization Boko Haram is responsible for the attack, which involved the use of sophisticated weapons and explosives, freed all 64 inmates at the prison who were linked to Boko Haram, and included the escapees who are still on the run.

“Given the sub-present region’s movement patterns for Nigerians, it seems anticipated that the majority of the escapees will try to reach Ghana through both authorized and prohibited routes.”
