Famous journalist Kadaria Ahmed has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to take a break while letting someone else handle the nation’s security challenge.
The level of insecurity being experienced by Nigerians, according to Ahmed, has never been this high. Ahmed expressed concern that if urgent action is not taken to solve the situation, our nation may be lost.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, the journalist made the statements in response to the government’s response to a BBC Africa Eye documentary on the lawlessness in Zamfara State.

Remember that the BBC released a 50-minute program last Monday called “The Bandit Warlords of Zamfara,” which documented the thriving kidnapping for ransom market as well as other terrorist actions.

In the documentary, the BBC spoke with a bandit leader who admitted that they used the N60 million ransom payment made by the Federal Government for the release of the schoolgirls kidnapped in February 2021 from the Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, Zamfara State, to purchase more weapons.

The government disapproved of the documentary and criticized the media outlet for portraying the robbers as Nollywood celebrities.

In response, Ahmed stated that Nigerians must now remind their leaders that it is time for a bipartisan solution to insecurity because it would eventually eat us.

We are not asking who the PDP or the APC are right now, as it is consuming us. And to me, the ongoing politization of insecurity portends grave danger for Nigeria.

“So, our politicians need to be a little more conscious, and even if it’s behind the scenes, I’m not sure whether we really need to see them on TV figuring things out, no. In an interview with Arise TV, Ahmed was quoted by the Daily Post as stating, “Please go behind the scenes, sit down, and form a bipartisan understanding about how you are going to deal with the challenges that Nigeria is facing.

We have never had it so bad, Ahmed continued while discussing the state of the nation today. And if we do not exercise caution, we will lose this nation while they are in charge. So look behind the scenes at APC, PDP, and everyone else.

“Even if it comes down to convincing the president. I’m not sure. His health has been poor. Maybe he can take a long term of sick leave and let someone else take over. Because, as he admitted himself, “no government can battle terrorism on its own.”

“I don’t think there is much more I can do, is what I’m hearing. When I hear that, I hear that. Therefore, it might be time to consider other possibilities.
