Meeting between FG and ASUU comes to a deadlock

On Tuesday, August 16, a meeting between representatives of the Federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) came to a standstill with no sign of the academic union’s ongoing strike being resolved.

Today at the National University Commission in Abuja, the Professor Nimi Briggs committee and the striking academics met for approximately three hours in an effort to resolve the problems that sparked the strike, which has now lasted six months and counting.

The professors who attended the conference and were on strike claimed that the Federal government delegation did not bring any fresh proposals to the table except than pleading with them to terminate their strike by promising to include their demands in the 2023 budget.
