Many William Ruto supporters in the town of Eldoret celebrated his victory in the presidential race the day after the results of the Kenyan election were made public.
According to observers, Ruto’s triumph was a break from history because he ran his campaign on economic principles rather than ethnic ones.
Defeated candidate Raila Odinga declared he will appeal the election results in court.
“Since we have now gained knowledge from our experience in 2007, I don’t believe that the Ed violence will spread. People have learned from it, especially in this part of the Rift Valley, where the situation was particularly awful because there is where the majority of the damage occurred at the time “explained Judy Kosgei, an Eldoret resident.
The victory of William Ruto made many people in the town happy.
Hamida Nyawira, a different inhabitant of Eldoret, struggled to suppress her joy.
“Eldoret is a pleasant place right now. We are overjoyed for William Samoei Ruto, our fifth President, as a result of yesterday’s elections “She smiled.
Any challenges must be submitted to the Supreme Court by Monday, and they have 14 days to rule.
In two weeks, if no court petition is filed, Ruto will take the oath of office and become Kenya’s fifth president since the country’s independence.
