Overnight, heavy flooding brought on by the seasonal rains in eastern Afghanistan killed at least nine people, wrecked homes, animals, and farms. The number of persons killed or injured by the rising waters is yet unknown, according to Abdullah Mufaker, director of the province of Logar’s emergency management division, but at least nine people have perished.
