Julius Haruna, the FCCPC’s (Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission) Governing Board’s North-West zonal director, passed away.
According to information provided to advertafrica.net, Haruna passed away on Wednesday in Katsina State while having a heated argument with a female coworker in the commission’s office.
The commission has since established an inquiry panel to look into the official’s death, according to Tam Tamunokonbia, the board’s secretary in Abuja, who confirmed the development in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
Tamunokonbia identified Muibat Abdusalam as the employee at the center of the conflict with Haruna.
He continued by saying that in order to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible investigation, the board has also instructed the immediate but temporary removal of relevant leadership and staff from the commission.
According to Tamunokonbia, who was mentioned, Dr. Ben Nwoye, a lawyer and board member, had been chosen to lead the panel established to look into the circumstances surrounding the director’s death.
AVM Wakili Ahmed, a retired board member, was also named as the panel’s co-chairman, according to the announcement.
According to Tamunokonbia, the board ordered that members of the panel be chosen from among representatives of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment and the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
The command of the Katsina State Police is presently carrying out its own inquiries. The command is holding Abdusalam at this time.
When appropriate, the commission will continue to make appropriate, thorough, and frank disclosures of information regarding any investigative findings and/or legal proceedings.
“The commission continues to carry out its mandate, including throughout the North-West region,” he continued.
The board also sent its sympathies to the deceased’s friends, family, and coworkers.
