Over ten residences and shops were reportedly set on fire Friday night by unidentified gunmen in the Izombe town of Imo state’s Ogutal local government area.
According to reports received by advertafrica.net at the time, the community was attacked by gun-wielding individuals on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Izombe.
According to a source who talked with Vanguard Newspaper, the development has sparked friction in the neighborhood.
The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, claimed the fire had hit Central Market, Amamuruegede, Eziama, Umuakpa, and Eke-well, among other sites.
The insider described the situation as follows: “We noticed individuals in security uniforms.” They arrived in around eight highly armed security vehicles. They arrived around 4:30 p.m.
“When we spotted them, everyone was terrified. As it began to get dark, they launched into the air and people began to flee. They went straight to some chosen residences and shops and set fire to them. They set fire to more than ten dwellings.”
“As I speak to you, many people have fled their homes and are hiding in the bushes. Some of us have no idea where our children or wives are. By tomorrow, we will come out and realize the level of devastation they have done. “We don’t know what sins we’ve committed to deserve this kind of attack,” the source told reporters.
