The continuing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has once more been extended.

The choice was made following the National Executive Council meeting on Monday, August 29, at the union’s headquarters at the University of Abuja.

The ASUU strike was scheduled to start on February 14, 2022, and last for 4 weeks. To give the administration more time to respond to all of its requests, ASUU decided to prolong its continuing strike by an additional two months on March 14, exactly one month after it began.

Today marks day 196 of the strike.

The Federal Government’s unwillingness to carry through earlier agreements both parties signed has led to the union going on strike.

University Transparency Accountability Solution, earned academic allowances, promotion backlogs, and other issues are among the grievances raised by the lecturers.
