Dispute over discussion and rage. Senegal’s 14th assembly met on Monday for the first time since the election in July. MPs were tense and exceedingly tense. The 165 members of parliament were to choose their president, according to the agenda.

The opposition and presidential camp’s representatives exchanged blows and the police were summoned after the assembly failed to agree on the electoral process.

Ultimately, a member of the ruling alliance named Amadou Mame Diop won the election. The two largest opposition parties, Yewwi Askan wii and Wallu Senegal, boycotted the election because none of them had a single candidate.
