Musician Kelvyn Boy claims that the success of his song “Down Flat” has had a significant negative influence on his life, career, and income.
When discussing his money on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Kelvyn Boy noted that he had been able to purchase a car and some land.
“Downflat changed my life. I am cashing in and out…I feel like it has moved me, it changed my life,” he stated.
Kelvynboy said that the song had opened numerous professional doors for him, particularly when he performed outside of Ghana.
“I was at the offices of Trace and I also went to the BBC. It wasn’t part of the plan because I went for a tour, and didn’t go for promotion but it’s the song. They know about the song and they want to see the person (behind it),” he said.
Additionally, while on tour in Europe, Kelvyn Boy got the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other notable artists.
To rapturous acclaim, Kelvyn Boy published “Down Flat” in January. After one dancer created a choreography for the song, it subsequently became trending on TikTok. The song reached new heights as a result.
Down Flat was one of two Ghanaian songs that made it to the top when Billboard debuted its very own Afrobeats Songs Chart on Tuesday, March 29.
“Down Flat’ debuted on the chart at number 22.
Kelvyn Boy to Nigeria to spread the song’s word. He gave a live performance of the song on Glitch Africa following one of his interviews.
Kelvyn Boy expressed his delight at the speed with which his most recent track, “Down Flat,” has taken the internet by storm in an interview from April 2022.
He told Ibrahim Ben Bako of Joy Prime that he wrote the song in less than 20 minutes, making it the shortest song he has ever written.
Although Kelvyn Boy usually plans for his songs to be successful, he claimed that this particular song has taken on a life of its own.
“Down Flat was made in less than like 20 minutes, that is my fastest song. I think the song came from above and it’s doing its thing, because the budget for the video, the energy, when we started promoting it was low,” he said.
The popularity of Downflat has also inspired a remix. Tekno, a Grammy-winning producer and musician from Nigeria, and Stefflon Don, a performer from the UK, appear on the remix.
