The Manhyia Palace Chief of Staff wrote to the British High Commissioner to express sympathy to the United Kingdom on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, who had been the country’s longest-reigning queen.

On Thursday, September 8, the 96-year-old king left this world and entered into eternal life at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

On September 19, her funeral is expected to take place at Westminster Abbey.

Chief of Staff Kofi Badu sent High Commissioner Harriet Thompson a letter from the Manhyia Palace expressing the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu IIsincere ,’s sympathies.

It emphasized how the late queen committed herself to serving as a beacon of inspiration and hope during “the darkest of times.”

“Through seven long decades, in an epoch of the most traumatic challenges and awesome opportunities, she has worn the crown of sovereign with matchless dignity, unfailing grace, integrity and fortitude,” the letter noted.

It went on to say that the British Empire’s metamorphosis from an imperial schism to the Commonwealth of Free Nations is proof of Queen Elizabeth II’s positive deeds.

“The Asante Kingdom has been particularly conscious of the fact that it was during her reign that the scars of past history were finally overlaid by a new relationship based upon mutual respect and friendship,” the letter pointed out, adding that three Kings of Asante were received by the queen while she also made sure she visited Kumasi with other members of the Royal family on every occasion she was in Ghana.

“In concert with the rest of Ghana and the millions across the Commonwealth of nations, the Asante Kingdom mourns with the Royal family over the loss of this impregnable fortress.”
